Fear is why so many personal project never see the light of day. This and not setting time limits.

It is overwhelming the information that is out there. But some seem to follow without questions.

Personal I only follow 5 blogs and one of which is this one. It has always great content and from personal experience.

I even stop RSS feeds. There is way to much noise out their. I prefer to interact on the 5 blogs I follow.

I find that content finds me if it is that important. Normal someone shouting about responsive design.

Yes, I think that is one of the reasons why. I think that people have a genuine fear of sticking with something. They seem to panic and therefore they bail on their idea and try to start something new. I know that I am guilty of this.

I also the think the barrier of entry into our field has been lowered to the point that anyone can get in. Which has allowed for an influx of more voices, ideas and trends. I think in the long run this is good, but it is no doubt overwhelming.

100% on the mark. I like this style of post.

You make some strong points that are valid.

Fear is the starting point of the unknown.

Accept the unknown. Accept that there are many answers with no one right approach. Fight it and you will only create conflict with yourself causing frustration.

Do you think fear is why we see so many trends on the web?

@Kevin // The great thing about Tumblr is that it's very simplistic. You are limited in what you can post, which means templating is much easier.

There's several well known people within the tech / design circles that run their site off Tumblr: Frank Chimero (http://blog.frankchimero.com/) and Gary Vaynerchuck (http://garyvaynerchuk.com/). And Darrel actually runs his personal blog off Tumblr (http://darrelg.com).

A few things to remember, though, about Tumblr: (1) It's a self hosted solution. Meaning, Tumblr has all of your content. Sometimes this can be a good thing, but it can also be bad thing when it comes to exporting. (2) It's a free solution. Within the last 6 months, they've had trouble with their servers. The end user has no room for leverage, because it is a free service. They're not entitled to anything.

Thank you so much. You two were great and it was probably the most helpful breakout session of the conference for me. Next year you ought to consider doing a hands on session...make it longer....sign up ahead of time with limited space....everyone brings their own laptop....and do a work session with us old ladies (if you could stand it!) I thought about this after I turned my evaluation into Chris Adams, so please pass this on to her!! Thank you so much!!

@Kevin // I always enjoy getting your comments!

I'm glad you're going to check out a framework. I'll have to look bootstrap. I've also heard good things about Boilerplate (http://html5boilerplate.com/)
